Repeat Prescriptions

Repeat prescriptions are issued by prior arrangement with your doctor. If you are on regular medication, you should receive sufficient to last for a 28 day period. If it does not, speak to a receptionist for further advice. You may need a medication review with your doctor.

Requests for repeat prescriptions can be made by:

  • Post – send your prescription to us with a SAE.
  • Hand your prescription into reception using the right hand side of your prescription - tick which items you need.
  • Post your prescription in the secure box just outside our reception area if the desk is busy.
  • Online using SystmOnline.
Find out more details of this service. Once registered you will be given information to enable you to create your username and password. Speak to reception for further information.
If you already have your password then you can access SystmOnline here.

Please allow 48 hours to issue the prescription. Patients are responsible for ordering their medication in good time, ensuring that they do not run out.

In line with prescribing safety recommendations we do not take orders for repeat prescriptions over the telephone unless the patient is housebound.

Many chemists offer a free service: they will request and collect your prescription and deliver your medication – please ask your local pharmacist for more information.

Electronic Prescription Service (EPS)

EPS gives you the chance to change how your GP sends your prescription to the place you choose to get your medicines or appliances from.  To do this you need to 'nominate' your pharmacy.  You can do this either with your chosen pharmacy or at the GP surgery. You don't need a computer to do this.

More information about the Electronic Prescription Service here.

Questions about your prescription

If you have questions about your medicine or your prescription please contact the surgery.

Your local pharmacists can also answer any questions about your prescription. They can answer questions on medicines you can buy without a prescription.
